
JnU to Get Priority in Budget Allocation – UGC Chairman

Jagannath University (JnU) will receive higher budget priority compared to previous years, said Professor Dr. S. M. A. Faiz, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh. He made this statement while addressing an Iftar and prayer gathering organized by the Jagannath University Journalists’ Association (JnUJA) on Friday.
The UGC Chairman stated, "The government is currently facing various challenges. Despite this, we will do our best for the welfare of Jagannath University and its students. We understand the hardships JnU students go through, as they struggle significantly due to the lack of residential facilities."
Referring to the contribution of JnU students in the 2024 mass uprising, Dr. Faiz added, "Jagannath University students played a crucial role in this movement. Even when it was a college, it had a glorious history, and that legacy continues."
The event was presided over by JnUJA President Imran Hussain, with JnU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim as a special guest. The Vice-Chancellor said, "Our students are studying under difficult conditions due to the absence of residential halls. Work on our second campus is ongoing, and we hope that UGC will provide special attention and maximum support to Jagannath University."
The event was moderated by JnUJA General Secretary Mahtab Hossain Limon. Other special guests included JnU Treasurer Professor Dr. Sabina Sharmin. Additionally, deans from various faculties, leaders of the JnU Teachers’ Association, faculty members, representatives from political and social organizations, and journalists were also present.
