Gold trader's murder: 6 arrested in Ashulia

Police arrested six individuals in connection with the murder of gold trader Dilip Das and the looting of gold jewellery in Ashulia.

Dhaka District Superintendent of Police Md Anisuzzaman confirmed the imatter at a press briefing held at Ashulia Police Station on Tuesday noon.

The arrests were made during operations in various areas, including Savar, Ashulia, and Dhaka, from yesterday afternoon until midnight.

Law enforcers recovered 13 bhori of gold jewellery from the stolen loot, Tk76,000 from the sale of gold, and two machetes used in the murder.

The arrestees are Md Ripon Mia of Kishoreganj, Md Arif Pramanik, Md Shah Alam, and Md Arman Sheikh of Pabna, Md Ibrahim Babu of Rajshahi, and Md Masud Rana alias Kala Masud of Cumilla.

Among them, Arif and Ripon were identified as the main perpetrators of the killing, while another accused, Talim, detonated cocktails during the attack.

Police said the gang had been carrying out robberies in different parts of the country for a long time, often using stolen or snatched mobile phones to evade detection.

The suspects, members of an inter-district robbery gang, worked in various professions during the day while engaging in criminal activities under this cover.

Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects, and the arrestees will be sent to court, police added.
