
5 members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army arested in N’ganj

A total of six individuals, including five members of the Rohingya militant group Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), were arrested by RAB-11 in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj.
The arrested individuals are: Ataullah Abu Ammar, also known as Jununi, the son of the late Maulvi Golam Sharif from Myanmar's Arakan State; Moshtaq Ahmed (66), the son of the late Lal Miah from Arakan State; Moniruzzaman (24), son of Atikul Islam from Ishwarganj, Mymensingh; Abdul Amin Salimullah (27) from Arakan State; his wife Asmaul Hosna (23); and Hasan (15), son of Nur Alam from Arakan State. During their arrest, RAB recovered a sum of 21,39,100 Taka from them.
The arrested individuals were secretly organizing subversive activities in various regions, including Narayanganj and Mymensingh. Based on confidential information, RAB learned that the suspects were holding a secret meeting in a multi-story building in the Bhumi Palli Housing Area in Siddhirganj to organize these activities. A raid was conducted early on March 17, during which they were arrested. After legal procedures, they were handed over to Siddhirganj Police Station on Tuesday morning.
Confirming the arrest, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Siddhirganj Police Station, Mohammad Shahinur Alam, mentioned that RAB filed two cases against the six arrested individuals.
For further investigation, the police applied for a 20-day remand to interrogate the suspects. Following a hearing, Senior Judicial Magistrate of Narayanganj, Moeinuddin Kadir, granted a 10-day remand (five days for each case).
