
Extortionist arrested in Jamalpur posing as DC-SP

Police arrested Sajjad Hossain Shakib (35), a fraudster who was operating a mobile court in the name of DC in the Melandha upazila under the Jamalpur disrict. He was handed over to the Jamalpur court on Tuesday at 10.00 am.
The arrested fraudster is said to be the son of Saiful Islam of Mouja Jalla village, Patnipara, Islampur upazila of the Jamalpur district. On March 17, the local people of Charaildar village handed him over to the police.
Sand trader Rozul Karim became the plaintiff in this incident and filed a case (No. 18) with Melandah Police Station on the night of March 17. Meanwhile, Shakib's people got the news and tried to drag the plaintiff out of the police station.
Rezaul Karim, the plaintiff in the case, said, "This fraudster, a group of 3/4 people, often used to extort money by threatening to use a mobile court, posing as a DC-SP and UNO. At one point, they demanded a ransom of 33,000 taka from me every week."
They also demanded 33 thousand taka from another person. If they do not pay, a mobile court will be set up. If they pay, the DC-SP-administration and even journalists will not come.
Anyone else is suggesting to keep them in custody. A regular case has been registered against him. His associate Monir Hossain Juis (35) and several others have been named as unidentified accused in the case. The operation to arrest the remaining accused is ongoing.
In this regard, District Jamaat's Publicity and Media Affairs Secretary (Press Wing) Lecturer Zakiul Islam said - I have heard about extortion by using the name of Professor Shamiul Haque Farooqui. Currently, Farooqui Sir is in Saudi to perform the holy Umrah. There is no nephew of Farooqui or anyone from the Jamaat-e-Islami organization with this name.
