Durgapur Upazila BNP Convener, Member Secretary given show cause notice, six union committees suspended
Durgapur Correspondent
The district BNP has issued show cause notices to Rajshahi's Durgapur Upazila BNP convener Kamruzzaman Aynal and member secretary Professor Jobayed Hossain for violating party discipline and creating organizational chaos. At the same time, the newly announced committees of six union BNPs in the upazila have been suspended.
On Monday, the matter was informed in two separate letters signed by District BNP Convener Md. Abu Said Chand.
The first letter mentioned that on September 28, 2025, the partial committees of the BNP in six unions under Durgapur Upazila were approved without coordinating with local leaders and activists. This has created confusion and chaos within and outside the party.
The party has been ordered to submit a written response within three days on why organizational action will not be taken against the upazila convener and member secretary for their alleged involvement in activities against party discipline in this incident.
On the other hand, the second letter stated that on the instructions of freedom fighter Abdus Salam, BNP coordinator of Rajshahi division and member of the Chairperson's Advisory Council, the partial and full committees of BNP in Nowpara, Kismat Ganakoir, Pananagar, Deluabari, Jhaluka and Joynagar unions of Durgapur upazila have been suspended.
Copies of the letter have been sent to BNP central secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Rajshahi division coordinator Abdus Salam, organizing secretary Shahin Shawkat, associate organizing secretary Amirul Islam Khan Alim and AHM Obaidur Rahman Chandan, and other top party leaders.
When asked for comment on this issue, Upazila BNP convener Md. Kamruzzaman Aynal said, "I received the letter a while ago. If there is such a matter in the BNP constitution, then I will respond according to the rules."
Member Secretary Jobayed Hossain did not answer his cell phone when called, so his statement could not be obtained.
On the other hand, district BNP convener Abu Said Chand said, "Yes, this is true. The committees have been suspended and show cause notices have been issued. This decision has been taken in light of BNP's central directives."
