The annual art exhibition of the Department of Oriental Arts of Dhaka University began on Wednesday at  Zainul Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts. The exhibition was inaugurated at the Osman Jamal Auditorium of the faculty.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by the Chairman of the Department of Oriental Arts, Gopal Chandra Trivedi. Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University, Prof  Dr. Md. Azharul Islam Sheikh was the chief guest and Proctor Md. Israfil Prang, Jagannath Hall Principal Debashish Paul and Engineer Mainul Abedin, son of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, spoke as special guests. Kantidev Adhikari, curator of the annual art exhibition, delivered the welcome speech.

At the inaugural ceremony , 16 students were awarded in various categories. The awardees are - Pallabi Biswas (Best Award, Experimental), Sajeeb Dutta (Special Award, Experimental), Pragati Chakma (Best Award, Watercolor), Sohag Roy (Best Award, Pencil), Jahin Raida Maisha (Artist Shafiqul Amin Memorial Award), Bappi Pal (Artist Rashid Chowdhury Memorial Award), Ishtiaz Hossain (Artist Aminul Islam Memorial Award), Md. Zakaria Islam (Artist Shawkatuzzaman Memorial Award), Raheli Rubaiyat (Best Award, Experimental), Bashundhara Sarkar (Special Award, Experimental), Shuvojit Pal (Best Award, Watercolor), Amiya Pal (Best Award, Pencil), Sushma Sadaf Mithi (Artist Shafiqul Amin Memorial Award), Naqib Jahangir (Artist Rashid Chowdhury Memorial Award), Sunay Chakma (Artist Aminul Islam Memorial Award) and Ankita Mitra (Artist Shawkatuzzaman Memorial Award)
