Coast Guard foils cement smuggling attempt to Myanmar ar Patenga coast, 5 detained

Coast Guard members seized 750 bags of cement worth approximately Tk 3.75 lakh and detained five alleged smugglers during an anti-smuggling operation in the outer anchorage area under Patenga Police Station in Chattogram on Monday.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon disclosed the information in a a press briefing on Tuesday morning.
According to Coast Guard officials, a special operational team from the Coast Guard Outpost Patenga conducted the drive around 5:00 PM on Monday, based on secret intelligence. During the operation, officers intercepted and searched a suspicious cargo boat carrying 37,500 kilograms of cement intended for illegal smuggling into Myanmar.
The team seized the cargo boat along with the contraband cement and detained the five individuals on board. Legal procedures regarding the seized evidence and the detained suspects have been taken.
