BGB recovers gold worth over Tk 87 lakh in Jibannagar

Members of the Maheshpur 58 BGB Battalion have arrested a young man named Raj Rocky (32) with 6 gold bars worth Tk 87 lakh 48 thousand 680 in Jibannagar, Chuadanga.

This information was given in a press release signed by 58 BGB Assistant Director Mohammad Saiful Islam sent to the media around 12 midnight on Monday.

The arrested young man is the son of Rezaul Haque Liton of Gayeshpur village in the border union of the same upazila.

The press release further informed that, based on a secret tip-off, members of the Jibannagar BOP under the Maheshpur 58 Battalion arrested Raj Rocky from the Jibannagar police station intersection around 5:45 pm on Monday.

After the arrest, he was taken to the BGB camp and interrogated, but he initially denied the gold. Later, when he was made to defecate, two scotch tape wrapped pots came out of his anus.

When the two pots were opened, 6 illegal gold bars were found there. The weight of the 06 pieces of gold bars recovered was 728.96 grams, with an estimated market value of 87,48,680 taka.

A case has been filed against the arrested accused at Jibannagar Police Station. The process of depositing the recovered gold bars at the Government Treasury, Chuadanga through the court is under process.
