Bangladesh Ansar and VDP organized a widespread tree plantation and sapling distribution campaign across Cumilla, Bagerhat, Netrokona, Khagrachhari, and Rangamati districts on Tuesday under the banner "Decorating the country with tree plantation, Bangladesh comes first."

The environmental drive aimed to combat climate change, restore ecological balance, and promote greening across plainland and hill districts.

In Cumilla, the campaign was led by District Commandant Deputy Director Md. Ashraful Huq at  Chauddagram Upazila office alongside Chauddagram Upazila Ansar and VDP Officer Sharif Mahmud and local volunteers.

In Rangamati, District Commandant Deputy Director Md. Saddam Hossain and Circle Adjutant Md. Tanjir Azad spearheaded the distribution and planting of fruit-bearing, forest, and medicinal saplings.

Simultaneously, Ansar-VDP units conducted plantation drives across nine upazilas of Khagrachhari and nine upazilas of Bagerhat. A total of 1,040 saplings and 100 palm seeds were planted across both districts, with Khagrachhari District Commandant Deputy Director Md. Ibrahim Khalil and Bagerhat District Commandant Deputy Director Md. Shariful Islam presiding as chief guests in their respective jurisdictions.

In Netrokona, District Commandant Deputy Director Mohammad Zinnatul Islam inaugurated the program across nine upazilas—Netrokona Sadar, Mohanganj, Atpara, Kalmakanda, Madan, Kendua, Barhatta, Purbadhala, and Durgapur—where 500 saplings comprising 170 forest, 140 fruit, and 190 medicinal species were planted.

Ansar and VDP officials reaffirmed that these grassroots environmental drives will continue across the country to support the national tree plantation target and encourage community involvement in environmental protection.
