Upazila monthly law, order meet held : Severe water crisis at Padma Bridge Jasaldia Rehabilitation Center, no doctors nurses at health center

A severe water crisis is ongoing at the Padma Bridge Jasaldia Rehabilitation Center. With no supply of water available, several thousand people living in over 400 plots at the center are enduring a dire situation. Despite this continuing for over a month, the concerned authorities have taken no action.
In an effort to resolve the issue, residents of the rehabilitation center collected around 1.5 lakh taka through their community association to repair the water pump. However, their efforts failed. Mechanics who inspected the situation reported that the underground water level has dropped too low, making repairs impossible. They estimated that a solution would require at least 10 to 12 lakh taka.
Additionally, the health center at the rehabilitation facility has no doctors or nurses. Since the contract with the associated NGO has expired, they are no longer providing medical personnel. As a result, the residents are suffering immensely due to the lack of both water and health services.
These issues were highlighted yesterday, Thursday, during the monthly law and order meeting of Louhajang Upazila, by Bikrampur Press Club President and journalist Masud Khan.
The meeting was presided over by Louhajang UNO Md. Nesar Uddin. Other speakers included Upazila Health Officer Dr. Fahmida Laskar, Louhajang Police Officer-in-Charge Md. Harun-or-Rashid, Padma Bridge North Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Zakir Hossain, Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Rezaul Islam Tushar, Upazila Women Affairs Officer Aradhana Karmakar, Naval Police SI Mamun, Coast Guard Officer, and Mawa Port Officer, among others.
During the meeting, the UNO was commended for conducting a joint operation to curb drug activities in the Goali Mandra Bede community. There was also a discussion on ensuring transparency in the call system at the Mawa Ghat parking yard and nearby areas.
Furthermore, the Women Affairs Officer mentioned that they often have to work under risky conditions to prevent child marriage. The role of the police in combating drugs was also appreciated, although drug trafficking hasn't been fully eradicated yet.
UNO Md. Nesar Uddin urged everyone to work together to eliminate drugs from society.
