A discussion meeting with local journalists was held at a local restaurant in Joypurhat city on Wednesday night, organized by the professional wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

The event was presided over by City Professional Nayeb-e-Amir and Professional President Abdur Rahim, and moderated by Secretary Abdul Wahed. District Jamaat Assistant Secretary Hasibul Alam Liton was present as the chief guest. District Professional President Mostafizur Rahman was the special guest.

The meeting was also attended by the acting Amir of the city Jamaat, Maulana Saidur Rahman, the city secretary of the Jamaat, Mizanur Rahman, and other leaders.

At the meeting, Jamaat leaders said that in the past 17 years, attempts have been made to suppress the voice of the media at various times. But now the media is working largely independently. Therefore, journalists should present the truth and present white as white and black as black before the nation. Journalists should play a constructive role in conveying the ideology that Jamaat-e-Islami believes in to the people. There is no alternative to objective, impartial and responsible journalism.

The leaders expressed hope that such exchanges of views will continue in the future.
