Joint Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Member of Parliament for Narsingdi-1 (Sadar), Khairul Kabir Khokon, stated on Monday that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s democratically elected government is steering the nation with efficiency despite inheriting a devastated economy ruined by 17 years of autocratic governance.
Speaking during a leaflet distribution drive regarding emergency energy management measures at the Narsingdi Pourashava intersection on Monday afternoon, Khokon asserted that the outgoing regime laundered Tk 30 lakh crore abroad and looted banking institutions, pushing the country’s financial framework to the brink of collapse.
During the event, which focused on government initiatives to increase LNG supply, expand domestic gas production, and augment import infrastructure to resolve ongoing energy pressures, the lawmaker highlighted fiscal management achievements under the current administration.
The leaflet distribution event was attended by Narsingdi City BNP President AKM Golam Kabir Kamal, General Secretary Faruq Uddin Bhuiyan, Robiul Islam Robi, District BNP Joint General Secretary Mohsin Hossain Bidyut, Jahidul Kabir Bhuiyan, and District Chhatra Dal President Siddiqur Rahman Nahid, alongside senior local BNP leaders and activists.
