A high-level government delegation has arrived in Baghaihat to hold discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis in the Sajek area of Baghaichhari Upazila, Rangamati. The delegation departed from Rangamati on Monday morning, traveled via Khagrachhari, and reached Baghaihat around 1:00 PM.
The delegation is led by Wadud Bhuiyan, Member of Parliament for Khagrachhari and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs. Other members include Rangamati Member of Parliament Dipen Dewan, the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police from both Rangamati and Khagrachhari districts, as well as local *karbaris* (traditional community leaders) and members of a high-level core committee.
According to relevant sources, the initiative seeks to resolve the crisis by addressing the ongoing road blockade and the prevailing situation in Sajek. As part of this effort, the delegation is scheduled to visit the Ujo Bazar area in Sajek on Monday afternoon to hold discussions with those enforcing the blockade.
Meanwhile, at 11:00 AM, the Upazila administration held a consultative meeting with *headmen* (traditional tribal headmen) and *karbaris* from Baghaichhari Upazila at the Upazila Parishad conference room.
The meeting was presided over by Baghaichhari UNO Amena Marjan. Attendees included the OC of Baghaichhari Police Station, Nasir Uddin Majumder; the OC of Sajek Police Station, Tofazzal Hossain; and three members of the committee mediating the recent events in Sajek. Also present were headmen and karbaris from various parts of Baghaichhari Upazila, leaders of the local BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) unit, local journalists, and other prominent figures.
The ongoing blockade in Sajek has brought tourism and transportation to a standstill. In this context, the delegation's visit is viewed as a step toward resolving the crisis and restoring normalcy to the area.
