One fined Tk 50,000 for illegally cutting soil in Boalkhali

The upazila administration has fined a person 50,000 taka for illegally cutting soil in the Taltola area of Popadia Union in Boalkhali Upazila of Chattogram.
 
The fine was imposed during a mobile court operation led by UNO Mehedi Hasan Farooq on Saturday  
 
In the operation, Mohammad Manik (father: Badiul Alam) was fined  Tk 50,000/- as per the Balumahal and Soil Management Act, 2010 and the amount was collected immediately.
 
According to upazila administration sources, there were allegations of illegal cutting of soil in that area for a long time. In view of this, the administration conducted the operation.
 
UNO Mehedi Hasan Farooq said that illegal cutting of soil is destroying the balance of the environment and causing damage to agricultural land.  The administration's campaign against such crimes will continue.
 
He also said that mobile courts will be operated regularly in the future to protect public interest and the environment.
