In'tl Woman's Day celebrated in Kulaura

International Women's Day was celebrated in Kulaura with the theme "Today's Action, Tomorrow's Justice, Protected Rights of Women and Girls".

On the occasion of the day, a colorful rally and discussion meeting was held on Sunday  noon by the Upazila Administration and Women's Affairs Officer's Office and Kulaura Municipality. The colorful rally was taken out from the Upazila Parishad premises at 2:30 pm. The rally circled various important roads of the city and ended with a discussion meeting at the Upazila Parishad Auditorium.

The discussion meeting was moderated by Habibur Rahman Sujan and chaired by Upazila Women's Affairs Officer Soumitra Karmakar. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Anisul Islam spoke as the chief guest.

Upazila BNP President Joynal Abedin Bachchu, General Secretary Badruzzaman Sajal, Municipal Executive Officer Sharadindu Roy, OC (Investigation) Habibur Rahman, Press Club Kulaura President Azizul Islam, BNP leader Badrul Hossain Khan, Municipal Officer Banu Purkayastha, student Mimon Jannat Eni, among others, spoke as special guests.
Journalists Mainul Haque Pawan, Mohi Uddin Ripon, officials of government and private departments, leaders of various women's organizations, development workers, school and college students, and women from different classes and professions participated spontaneously. Placards and banners with various slogans for protecting women's rights and raising awareness were displayed in the rally.

The speakers emphasized on ensuring women's safety and eliminating discrimination in the workplace. The speakers said that women are showing unprecedented success today in education, administration and business. However, it has not yet been possible to completely eradicate violence against women and children and child marriage from the society. In order to build a modern Bangladesh, equal participation of women at every level and ensuring a safe environment for them is the demand of the hour.
