Roving Correspondent, Ishwardi (Pabna)

The first-ever "Bangladesh National Youth Nuclear Dialogue: Impact Team 2050" was held at the Nuclear Information Center in Ishwardi, Pabna, on Saturday.

Supported by Rosatom State Corporation and organized alongside the International Youth Advisory Council (Impact Team 2050), the event brought together over 50 university students, young professionals, and graduates to discuss the future of nuclear energy in Bangladesh.

Ishwardi UNO Hasan Mohammad Shoaib and Rooppur NPP Deputy Project Director (HR) Olga Vishnevskaya attended as distinguished guests. Promod Chandra Baidya, NPCNL expert and Impact Team 2050 member, highlighted the youth's readiness to contribute to safe nuclear energy use.

Participants identified key challenges—including limited specialized education, research facilities, and public awareness regarding nuclear safety—and called for dedicated scholarships, internships, and university-industry collaboration. They also proposed youth-led initiatives such as nuclear innovation challenges, open days, and university ambassador programs.

The recommendations will be submitted to Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev and presented at the COP31 climate conference in Antalya, Turkey, aiming to foster active youth participation in Bangladesh's sustainable energy transition.
