Barguna Dist Agricultural Loan Committee meeting to streamline credit distribution for farmers

The Barguna District Agricultural Loan Committee held a strategic meeting at the Payra Conference Room of the Barguna Deputy Commissioner’s Office to evaluate regional agricultural credit distribution, loan recovery performance, and institutional support for local farming communities.
Presided over by Barguna Deputy Commissioner Ms. Taslima Akhter, the meeting focused on accelerating agricultural development across the district, ensuring hassle-free credit access for marginal and genuine farmers on favorable terms, and reviewing regional loan recovery milestones.
Addressing the session, Deputy Commissioner Taslima Akhter highlighted agriculture as a pivotal driver of the national economy. She instructed participating banking institutions and agricultural departments to play a proactive role in eliminating administrative delays and intermediary interference so that smallholders and agri-entrepreneurs can access credit disbursements swiftly. The chair also stressed the necessity of achieving target-based credit allocation while maintaining a structured loan recovery mechanism.
Senior officials from the Barguna district administration, representatives from the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), regional heads, and branch managers from various commercial and specialized banks attended the meeting.
