
4 killed, 16 Injured as bus crashes into truck on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway

At least four people, including two doctors, were killed and at least 16 others injured when a passenger bus rammed into the rear of a moving truck on the Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga Expressway in Hasara, Sreenagar Upazila of Munshiganj district on Friday night.
The deceased have been identified as:
Zillur Rahman (65), a passenger from Madhu village in Jessore,Dr. Jalal Uddin (65), from Pagladah area of Jessore,Dr. Abdul Halim (55), from Jessore Sadar area,Md. Habib (32), the helper of the bus, also from Pagladah, Jessore.
According to sources, the accident occurred at around 3:15 AM on Friday night in front of Hasara Bridge on the Dhaka-bound lane of the expressway. A passenger bus of Hamdan Express (Dhaka Metro Ba-12-4296) violently crashed into the back of a moving truck (Dhaka Metro Dha-14-4538), causing both vehicles to veer off control and climb onto the road divider, resulting in a catastrophic crash.
Fire service teams rushed to the scene to conduct rescue operations. Sreenagar Fire Service Station Officer Dewan Azad Hossain stated that two people died on the spot. Sixteen injured individuals were rescued and sent to the hospital, where two more were later pronounced dead by the on-duty doctors.Officer-in-Charge of Hasara Highway Police Station, Abdul Kader Jilani, confirmed that both vehicles have been seized, but the drivers fled the scene. The injured were transported to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and legal proceedings are currently underway.
