Phulbari (Kurigram) Correspondent

Teachers, staff, young students, parents, and general citizens of government primary schools in Kurigram’s Phulbari upazila staged a human chain and submitted a memorandum in protest of the exclusion of Fulbari from the national school feeding program and demanded its immediate inclusion.

The demonstration was held on Thursday  at 4 PM on  Fulbari–Nageshwari road in front of the main gate of the Phulbari Upazila Parishad.

It is known that recently, 150 upazilas across the country have been included under the school feeding program for all government primary schools. Although seven upazilas from Kurigram district were listed, the river-surrounded and most neglected, backward areas of Fulbari and Ulipur were excluded. Protesting this exclusion and demanding prompt inclusion, students, teachers, staff, and guardians from various government primary schools in Fulbari organized this human chain and submitted a memorandum to the education advisor through the UNO.

During the brief rally, conducted by Mehedi Hasan, Assistant Teacher of Dakshin Kutichandrkhan Jellepara Government Primary School,  Shahzada Khandaker, Head Teacher of Naodanga Government Primary School; Nazrul Islam, Head Teacher of Dakshin Morandi Government Primary School; Shamsuzzaman Hasu, Head Teacher of Roshan Shimulbari Government Primary School; Marzina Begum, Head Teacher of Fulbari Government Primary School; Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Abdul Malek; Iqbal Hossain Ruku, General Secretary of Upazila Scouts; Ajan Rahman Shawon, Member Secretary of the Upazila Anti-Discrimination Student Movement; Mun Sarkar, Joint Secretary of the Student Rights Council; Rony Sarkar, leader of Fulbari Upazila BNP Student Wing; Golam Mostafa, President of the Upazila Primary School Teachers' Association; Nur Islam, Member Secretary of the Upazila Primary Teachers' Society; Nuha, a fifth-grade student of Fulbari Government Primary School; and Golam Mortuza Bakul, Convenor of the Upazila Assistant Primary Teachers' Association spoke.

Speakers strongly demanded immediate inclusion of Fulbari upazila in the school feeding program. They warned that if the demand is not fulfilled, a larger movement will be launched. After the human chain, teacher and guardian leaders submitted a memorandum to the Education Advisor through the UNO.
