Voting in 4 upazilas of Rangamati ends without major incidents

Polling in four upazilas of Rangamati was completed without any major untoward incident. Counting of votes is going on.

Polling was held on Wednesday from 8 am to 4 pm.

Awami League leader and chairman candidate Santosh Kumar Chakma has demanded re-election by announcing boycott of Barkal Upazila Parishad elections.

Polling has started in a peaceful environment in total 92 centers in 4 upazilas of Rangamati Sadar, Kaukhali, Barkal and Jurachhari.

In this, 12 candidates are competing for the post of chairman, 10 candidates for the post of vice chairman and 9 candidates for the post of female vice chairman in 4 upazilas. There are 2 lakh 11 thousand 224 voters.

During the polling, Mr. Mir Abu Tauhid, Superintendent of Police of Rangamati Hill District, BPM (Bar) inspected the overall law and order situation in various polling stations and constituencies.

He directed all the officers and forces and Ansar members responsible for the election to be active and diligent in performing their duty at all times, including monitoring the overall security and law and order situation in the area around the polling station.

Rangamati Hill District BGB Sector Commander Mr. Col. Anwar Latif Khan, BPM (Bar), PSC, Rangamati Hill District Deputy Commissioner Mr. Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan and senior officials of Rangamati Hill District Police were present.
