Tributes to language martyrs through marathon at IU

Two students of Islamic University ran 21 kilometers in memory of language martyrs on the occasion of International Mother Language Day.

Md. Manik Rahman started the race from the front of Mrittunjayi Mujib Mural of Islamic University at 4 am on Wednesday.

He is a, 2021-22 academic year, student of Human Resource Management Department of the university. On the other hand, Sajjatullah Sheikh left from Chowrhash of Kushtia city at around 7 in the morning and arrived at Shahid Minar of the campus around 9:30. He is a, 2019-20 academic year, student of Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies department of the university.

Sajjatullah Sheikh, who completed the race, said, 'When the month of February hit the calendar, I thought that I would do a half marathon in the month of language, dedicating it to the martyrs of the great language.

Since February 21st is International Mother Language Day, I will stand for 21 km. Finally, when the International Mother Language Day started at 7:00 AM and ended at 9:15 PM, I came to University Shaheed Minar. I dedicate today's marathon to the great language martyrs. With that, I would like to thank the teachers, officials, elder brothers and friends of the university who have inspired me and wished me well.

Md. Manik Rahman, another student who completed the race, said, 'Mourning in the soul of the wind. The pain of a suppressed pain is overflowing in everyone's heart. On this day mother tongue and cultural traditions are celebrated with special mention and glory. Chaudhas dawned on 21st February by paying humble respect to Bhasha Shaheed from 4:01 am in the darkness of the night without stopping for 2 hours 10 minutes 20 seconds 21 km. I celebrated Mother Language Day by paying humble respect to language martyr.
