Dr. Muhammad Mahtab Hossain Mazed

A heat wave sweeps over the country in the hot summer sun. During this time, the risk of contracting various diseases including diarrhea and dysentery increases. Excessive heat can cause serious health problems like heatstroke, dehydration. Ensure the health of yourself and your family by following some rules in intense heat.

Several tips should be followed to avoid the risk of heatstroke and intense heat in this summer. So let's first know what heatstroke is?

Generally, heatstroke occurs when the body temperature rises above the tolerable level. In heatstroke, the body temperature can reach 106°F or more within 10 to 15 minutes.

In medical terms, exposure to high temperatures for a long period of time is likely to cause heatstroke. And if you don't take quick measures at this stage, brain, heart, kidney and muscle damage can occurAnd one type of complication caused by the increase in human body temperature is called heat stroke. The normal human body temperature is 98 degrees Fahrenheit. Heat stroke can occur if it is above 104 degrees Fahrenheit. If this problem is not treated immediately, the patient may dieHeat stroke is a medical emergency that causes a body temperature of 40 degrees Celsius and it is not uncommon to have a frown. Who does not know that heat does not come alone, accompanied by some problems that are really scary. For example, overheating can cause heat stroke at any time. Along with this, there are symptoms like fatigue and muscle cramps. So it is important to be careful. Every year, the heat of the sun is increasing during the summer, resulting in various physical problems. One of them is heatstroke. Heatstroke is a serious physical problem that can even lead to death. But we can avoid this problem if we are careful this summer.

> First do not know what is heat stroke?

Heat stroke: When the outside temperature increases due to excessive heat, our body tries to maintain its internal temperature. As the outside temperature increases, when the body temperature increases, the veins in our skin dilate and expel the excess heat. Sweating also cools down our body temperature a bit. Due to excessive sweating in extreme heat, our body loses a lot of salt and water. As a result, physical discomforts such as physical weakness, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, muscle pain, extreme thirst, etc. occur. This condition is called "heat cramp" or "heat exhaustion".

As a result of prolonged stay in excessively hot or humid environment or physical exertion, our body becomes unable to regulate temperature.

> What to do in case of heat stroke:

* When heat cramps or heat exhaustion occur initially before heat stroke, heat stroke can be prevented by taking necessary measures.

* If someone next to you has a heat stroke, move them to a cool place quickly. Turn on the fan or AC.

* Wipe the body with wet cloth. If possible, try to reduce body temperature by applying ice to the patient's shoulders, armpits, and groin.

* If heat stroke does occur, the patient must be rushed to the hospital.

> Some tips to avoid heat stroke : The intensity of the sun is so high during summer. Water scarcity occurs. So our body can become unable to sweat in the intense heat of the sun. So we can save ourselves from heat stroke if we are careful. So more water and drink should be taken. Foods that can keep our body dehydrated for a long time should be consumed.

Raw mango sherbet: Raw mangoes are readily available during summer. Raw mangoes are delicious as well as nutritious. Mangoes are not paired to maintain body temperature. So I can keep raw mango sherbet in Iftari to avoid the harshness of summer.

Or raw mango can be used as a curry.

Tamarind syrup: Tamarind syrup is very useful to cool the body quickly. The addition of sugar and salt makes tamarind syrup more palatable and protects the body from dehydration.

It also contains potassium and magnesium which help to keep the body healthy and active for a long time.

Dub water: No other natural ingredient is better than du water to prevent heat stroke. It instantly cools the body and balances the heat in the body. It also protects the body from dehydration in excessive heat.

Prevents thirst for a long time and contains other mineral salts which are beneficial for our body.

Sugarcane syrup: Sugarcane syrup is very useful for the problem of lack of water in the body. It instantly balances water in the body. Sugarcane syrup is also rich in nutrients and tastes delicious.

Lemon juice: Lemon juice is very important to prevent heat stroke. Lemon contains vitamin C which helps to refresh the body quickly. It is also a very tasty and healthy drink that normalizes the body temperature. Coriander and mint mixed with it to make syrup is also beneficial for the body.

Matcha: According to Ayurvedic scriptures, consuming a glass of matcha daily is beneficial for the body. It is a good source of probiotics and helps in relieving dehydration in summer. So add matcha to your daily food list to avoid heat discomfort.

Aloe Vera Syrup: Aloe Vera Syrup is unique in preventing sunburn. It helps in digestion, reduces heartburn and relieves various stomach problems. Drinking a glass of aloe vera juice daily in summer reduces the risk of stroke.

Onion juice: One of the best ways to avoid heat stroke is onion juice. Many do not like its pungent taste. But its juice has medicinal properties. Onion juice helps to prevent heat.

The drinks mentioned above protect our body from dehydration. I will try to keep my favorite water from these drinks. I will also try to drink more water.

> Excluded:-

* Avoid taking soft or hard drinks: Avoid taking soft or hard drinks in extreme heat. Drinks dehydrate the body which causes dehydration. Also frequent thirst for water and dry throat. So drinks are definitely not for quenching temporary thirst in summer.

* Be careful while drinking water: Avoid drinking water from any place due to heat. Contaminated water can cause waterborne diseases. So be careful while drinking water. Always take mineral water when drinking water outside.

* Say no to fast food: Say no to fast food and fatty foods. Fast food and fatty foods are bad for the body. Avoid eating fried or rich food in hot weather. The more you eat such food in summer, the more you will feel hot. So it is better not to eat such food. Avoid street food in extreme heat.

* Be careful while eating saline: Many people do physical work even if they want to stay at home due to heat. They have to go out for work. There are many people who eat and drink. In that case, you can eat saline so that there is no shortage of water or salt in the body. You can keep saline near you while traveling outside. If the body feels weak, then you can eat saline immediately. It will reduce weakness. Do not drink saline with less water than indicated on the packet. Eating only saline powder or drinking saline with less water can increase the salt concentration and cause kidney damage.

I will use umbrella if necessaryMake informed decisions if someone is sick. Therefore, it is important for everyone to take precautions against heatstroke in these extreme temperatures.
