Professor of Disaster Science and Climate Resilience Department of Dhaka University (DU) ASM Maksud Kamal has taken the charge as the 29th Vice-Chancellor.

On Saturday (November 4) morning, he assumed this responsibility at the vice-chancellor's office.

Earlier last Thursday, the former vice-chancellor of the university, Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman completed his last office.

Later, in a ceremony organized at the university's Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Auditorium, the Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Treasurer, Deans, Provosts, teachers and other social and political organizations of various classes and professions welcomed the new Vice-Chancellor with flowers.

Professor Maksud Kamal was nominated as the next Vice-Chancellor in a notification in accordance with Article 11 (2) of Dhaka University Order, 1973 with the approval of the President and Chancellor last Sunday (October 15).

It should be noted that Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal of Disaster Science and Climate Resilience has been serving as Vice Chancellor (Education) of the University since June 2020. He was elected President of Dhaka University Teachers Association for four times. He was also the convenor of the Blue Panel , pro- Awami League teachers' organization of the university.

Apart from this, he is the president of the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers' Association and a member of the Senate and Syndicate of Dhaka University. He was also the Provost of Masterda Suryasen Hall of Dhaka University for two terms.
