A case has been filed naming 15 people and 5 to 6 unidentified people in connection with the attack on Tehsildar in Raipur of Lakshmipur.

On Thursday (June 20), Union Sub-Assistant Land Officer Mohammad Arifur Rahman (46) appeared at noon after receiving information about illegal sand extraction in the South Charbanshi panir ghat area of the upazila.

At that time, the officials involved in illegal sand extraction attacked the official when he was prevented from taking sand. He was severely beaten by a group of about twenty man.

On Friday, the day after the incident, Raipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Yachin Farooq Mazumdar filed a case mentioning the names of the accused and unknown persons, the victim of the attack, Deputy Assistant Land Officer Mohammad Arifur Rahman.According to Ezahar sources, the first defendant tried to hit Arif on the head with a hammer when he went to the sand extraction work site on June 20. Later, when he resisted it, he was hurt in the back. In addition to being injured in the attack, accused number 5 and 6 named Md. Karim and Md. Monir destroyed the mobile phone in their pocket while snatching it. He also mentioned that accused no. 3 and 4 stole 10,000 taka from his pocket before that.

However, Arif mentioned in the case that accused number nine Shahjalal Rahul, who was not present at the scene, took away the mobile phone from his hand and deleted the recorded videos and pictures. The turn of events starts from here. When Mohammad Arifur Rahman was called to find out the truth, he hunted himself. Shahjalal Rahul was not at the scene. The official also said that the main accused Taju took the mobile from his hand. Allegingly, the main mastermind behind the attack was Monir Mollah, president of South Charbanshi Union Awami League. Tajus force attacked under his leadership.

This is not the end of the story. Awami League leader Monir Mollah was asked about the leadership of the attack. He clarified that these allegations are baseless. He has no hand in the incident.

After getting bail in the case on Wednesday (June 26), Shahjalal Rahul, accused number 9 in the case, said, "I am a victim of political revenge" in a press conference organized at a restaurant in the district town on June 27 (Thursday). On June 20, a case was filed in the name of 20 people, including unknown persons, with one person named Taju as the main defendant in the attack on a deputy land officer named Mohammad Arifur Rahman. I have heard that three to four more named accused are not involved in this. But I am completely innocent. Mr. Land Officer admitted in a call record that I was not at the spot. But he did not mention how I was involved in the case. From the source of the call record, I came to know that the attack was led by the president of South Charbanshi Union Awami League, Monir Mollah. But I am not quite sure why the land official framed me without mentioning the name of the leader of the attack. Monir Mollah is an illegal sand miner and abuser of government party power.

He is the owner of crores of rupees by raising sand illegally. There are duplex houses. There are many luxury flats in Mohammadpur of Dhaka. I strongly request the law enforcement agencies to look into whether a case has been filed in the name of some innocent claimants including me. Since 2012 I have also been involved in such heinous cases of extortion, murder and rape, the saddest and most painful thing is that due to the case my father, a simple government employee, was killed by stocks. They did not spare my younger brother, a government employee, from the heinous case of rape. I was also implicated in a murder case in Motir Hat.

On investigation, it is learnt that Monir Molla has built an empire of illegal extraction of sand from the river under the umbrella of the local Awami League. In the dredger trade, he is becoming the Raghabboal of Char area. A worker in Didar Molla's dredger said, "We are running by managing the administration. So don't fear the lawsuit.
