Penalties for unlicensed sawmills in mobile court raids

Penalties for unlicensed saw mills in a mobile court raid in Debiganj, Panchagarh. This campaign was conducted in three sawmills of the upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The mobile court judge fined a total of 09,000 taka to three saw mills.According to mobile court sources, the mobile court was conducted by Assistant Commissioner (Lands) and learned Executive Magistrate Golam Rabbani Sardar following the complaint of Assistant Conservator of Forests Nurunnahar regarding the operation of saw mills without licence.
Operating a sawmill in violation of Section 3 of the Sawmill (License) Rules, 2012 is punishable under Section 12 of the same Act.
Among these, Nishat Rahman, son of Rezaul Islam of Kaliganj area, was fined Tk 3,000, Gopal Chandra Roy, son of Dhaneshwar Chandra Roy of Galandi Bazar area, was fined Tk 3,000 and Alal Uddin, son of Mesher Ali of Adhikaripara area, Dararhat, was fined Tk 3,000.
