Partho put on five-day remand in Setu Bhaban vandalising case

Court Correspondent

A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) chairman and former member of parliament Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho on a five-day remand in a case lodged over vandalising and setting Setu Bhaban in the capital's Banani area on fire on 18 July.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Shohag Uddin passed the order this afternoon as the police produced Partho before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand.

The Detective Branch (DB) of the police arrested Partho from the capital's Baridhara area last night.

A mob of 250/300 people on 18 July stormed into the premises of Setu Bhaban, vandalised many vehicles, motorbikes, ransacked different sheds and rooms, and later set those on fire. They attacked and assaulted many employees.
