Martyred Intellectuals Day, Victory Day programs at DU

Dhaka University authorities have taken various programs on the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals Day on Saturday and the great Victory Day on Monday.
Martyred Intellectuals Day Programs :
The programs for Martyred Intellectuals Day include: hoisting of black flags on important buildings of the university including the Vice-Chancellor's Building at 6:20 am on Saturday, December 14, 2024, gathering at the foot of Invincible Bangla at 6:30 am, and laying wreaths at the cemetery in the premises of the university's central mosque, the memorial in the premises of Jagannath Hall, and memorials in various residential areas led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan at 6:35 am. Then, a procession will be taken to the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Memorial and the Rayer Bazar Massacre Memorial to lay wreaths. At 11:15 am, a discussion meeting will be held at the Student-Teachers Center Auditorium under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan.
In addition, after Zohar, prayers will be offered for the forgiveness and peace of the souls of the martyred intellectuals at various halls, mosques and other places of worship, including the central mosque of the university, Masjidul Jamia.
Great Victory Day Program:
The Great Victory Day program includes: hoisting the national flag at important buildings of the university including the Vice-Chancellor's building at 6:20 am on Monday, December 16, 2024, gathering at the Smriti Chirantan Chattar adjacent to the Vice-Chancellor's building at 6:30 am, and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan led the university's teachers, students, officers and employees to lay wreaths at the Savar National Memorial.
At 5:45 pm, a cultural program will be presented at the Student-Teacher Center Auditorium under the joint management of the University's Music Department, Dance Department and Theater and Performance Studies Department.
On the occasion of the day, after Zohar, prayers will be offered in various halls and mosques in the residential area, including the central mosque of the university, Masjidul Jamia, for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs and for the prosperity and progress of the country. Prayer meetings will be held in other places of worship of the university, seeking the peace of the souls of the martyrs.
On the occasion of the day, important structures including Kala Bhavan, Curzon Hall, Student-Teacher Center and Smriti Chirantan will be illuminated.
