A day-long 'Law Career Festival' was held on Saturday in the Faculty of Law premises at the joint initiative of Dhaka University Law Faculty and Bangladesh Law Society.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated this festival.

Dean of the Faculty of Law Professor Dr. Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui was present as the chief guest at the inaugural function presided over by Seema Zaman. Dhaka University Law Department Chairman Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam (Asif Nazrul) delivered the welcome speech. Advocate AKM Afzal ul-Muni, president of Bangladesh Law Society, delivered a felicitation speech. Department of Law Assistant Professor Mohammad Golam Sarwar and Shireen Sultana conducted the programme.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman asked the students to play role in building an inclusive society through having non-sectarian and humanistic values and through modesty and efficiency.

He said that students should always strive for human welfare. Mentioning that the 'Student Promotion and Support Unit' has already been established in Dhaka University to develop students as efficient human resources in the current era of globalization, he said that initiatives have been taken to increase the efficiency of students through industry-academia cooperation. He expressed hope that this Law Career Festival will play an important role in improving the skills of students.

Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui urged those associated with the legal profession to earn the trust of people through hard work and honesty.
He pointed out that it is possible to achieve success in the legal profession if you have the mentality of being sympathetic to common people and helping people.
