Food Ministry Sadhan Chandra Majumdar MP inaugurated Internal Boro Paddy, Rice and Wheat collection through a video conference in the hall of the District Administrator's office in Sylhet on Tuesday.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet (General) Mohammad Mobarak Hossain, Sylhet District Food Control Officer Md. Zakaria Mostafa, Sylhet Sadar Upazila Food Control Officer. Kamrul Islam, Additional Deputy Director (PP) of Agriculture Extension Directorate Sylhet Mohammad Anichuzzaman and others also attended here.

Farmers were also present along with officers in charge of Sylhet Sadar, Khadimnagar Food Warehouse.
This time under internal boro collection 2024 season, the price of paddy per kg has been set at 32 taka, parboiled rice per kg at 45 taka and atap rice at 44 taka per kg. The period for collection of paddy and rice has been fixed from Tuesday May 7 to August 31 and the contract period with millers has been fixed from May 7 to May 20. Through the app, paddy will be collected in a total of 6 upazilas including Sylhet Sadar, Dakshin Surma, Bishnath, Biyanibazar, Golapganj and Kanighat. Farmer registration has already been started.

After completion of registration, vendor farmers will be selected through lottery. Through the app, rice will be collected in 4 upazilas of Sylhet Sadar, Bishnath, Biyanibazar and Kanighat. Paddy will be collected from the farmers listed in the Department of Agriculture Extension in upazilas outside the app. Seller farmers will be selected through lottery from the list of farmers approved by Upazila Collection Committee.

Each farmer can sell a maximum of 3,000 tons and a minimum of 120 kg of paddy in the warehouse. There are 14 licensed Siddha and 63 Atap rice mills in the district. In 13 upazilas of Sylhet district, the target of rice is 9 thousand 566 tons and the target of boiled rice is 9 thousand 873 tons and the target of rice is 4 thousand 819 tons.
