Human chain on Dhaka-Ctg highway demanding steps to stop extortion, price-hike control

Anti-discrimination students and people of the Greater Chittagong Road Traders Association have formed a human chain on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Siddhirganj section of Narayanganj, demanding the elimination of traffic jams, stop extortion, control of commodity prices by breaking market syndicates and justice for July-August murders.
The human cordon took place at the Shimrail intersection of the highway on Monday from 11 am to 12 pm.
Billal Hossain Talukder, president of Greater Chittagong Traders Society, spoke in the human chain, recently former councilor of Dhaka South City Corporation Haji Md. Ibrahim Khalil, Mufti Masum Billah, Maulana Deen Islam and others.
Expressing anger over the current situation in the country, the speakers in the human chain said, "Since independence, we have not been completely free, we have not been freed." A group has been openly extorting money since fleeing the dictatorship. We want to see extortion free country.
Regarding the suffering of traffic jam, they said that the suffering of traffic jam has now become a part of people's daily life. The government should play a strict role in solving the traffic jam very quickly.
Speakers also said that the unbridled increase in commodity prices since the formation of the interim government would question the government. Our demand is to bring the price of daily essentials into tolerability.
Besides, the murder of the student-mob killed by the dictatorship in July and August should be tried very soon.
