Hathazari Upazila Health Complex to vaccinate girls, teenagers to prevent cervical cancer

HPV vaccination campaign is going to start from October 24 to prevent 'cervical cancer' and will continue for ten days. During this period, free HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccination will be given to girls of class V to IX or out-of-school girls aged 10 to 14 years. To get this vaccine, you have to register first using the 17-digit online birth registration number.

A meeting was held at the Hathazari Upazila Health Complex conference room to make the vaccination campaign a success on Thursday .

It was presided over by Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Rashmi Chakma. Hathazari Upazila Civil Officer A.B.M. was present as the chief guest in the meeting. Mashiuzzaman.

Upazila education officer, upazila social service worker, officer in charge of Hathajari model police station Habibur Rahman, journalist Md Hossain, journalist Borhan Uddin and head teachers and trainees of various schools were present.

The speakers said, Human papilloma virus (HPV) is a virus responsible for cervical cancer. According to EPI, updated World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations state that only one dose of HPV vaccine is effective.

Vaccination programme started targeting more than 20 thousand girls for free. It will administer the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) of the Department of Health.
