Minister forb Housing and Public Works, veteran freedom fighter RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury MP said, a farmer-friendly political force should be built to protect the rights of farmers.

He said these while addressing as the chief guest at the special extended meeting of District Krishak League at Brahmanbaria District Shilpakala Academy on Saturday.

The minister said that farmers do not get fair prices for their produce. Despite the high cost of production, the actual farmer does not get a fair price for the agricultural produce.

As farmers' organizations are not strong, they cannot present their demands properly. For this reason, it is necessary to build an agrarian-friendly political force in order to protect the rights of farmers. Bangladesh Krishak League, an institution built by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, can be a political force playing a leading role in protecting the interests of farmers.

He further said that those who talk in favor of the Liberation War but act against the spirit of the Liberation War and those who are associated with the anti-independence should be avoided. In all political activities, the spirit of liberation war should be given the highest priority. The defense forces of the liberation war must work in favor of the boat.

To make the upcoming conference of Brahmanbaria District Farmers League a success and to build a dynamic organization, he proposed the formation of a committee consisting of skilled, qualified and active people. He said that the committee should be formed not only by looking at the appearance but also by looking at the activities. Those who will work and labor for the party should be given a place in the committee.

This is the second extended meeting of the Brahmanbaria District Farmers League formed on July 29. In the meeting, Bangladesh Krishak League Central Committee Organizing Secretary Hezbul Bahar Rana announced that the Brahmanbaria district Krishak League conference will be held on September 20.

Advocate Sameer Chand, central president of Bangladesh Krishak League, inaugurated this special extended meeting organized under the chairmanship of Brahmanbaria district Krishak League convener Mohammad Sadikur Rahman Sharif.

Brahmanbaria District Awami League Senior Vice President and Former Municipal Mayor Md Helal Uddin, Vice President Alhaj Mohammad Helal Uddin, District Awami League Acting General Secretary Mahabubul Bari Chowdhury Montu, Central Krishak League Finance Secretary Mohammad Nazir Mia, Health were present as special guests. Affairs Secretary Dr. Mojibur Rahman Miyaji and others. Farmers League leaders of all upazilas of Brahmanbaria district were present in the meeting.
