Elder brother Abdul Hamid (45) was killed while trying to save his other cousin Abdur Razzak from a rampant attack by the cousins due to a land dispute in Kharak village of Alloa Union of Bhuapur Upazila of Tangail on Sunday.

The deceased Abdul Hamid is the son of deceased Akter Hossain of that village.

Shahina Begum, wife of the deceased on Saturday night, named 19 people and filed a case at Bhuapur police station, accusing 15-20 others. The police arrested main accused Saeed's wife Anwara Begum (40), Azizul (35), Sona Mia (50) and Aleya Khatun (28) that night.

According to the sources of Ezahar, for a long time there was a dispute between Abdul Hamid's cousin Abdul Hamid's cousin Abdur Razzak over land with the Saeed-Azizuls of Kharak village. Even though there was village arbitration several times, there was no solution.

Recently, Abdur Razzak filed a case under section 107 of the Penal Code in Tangail court. On Friday (November 25) morning, Saeed-Azizul got angry and attacked Razzak after receiving the court notice. Meanwhile, when the elder brother Abdul Hamid and his wife Shahina Begum went forward to save the younger brother Abdur Razzak from the attack, they were all injured.

Locals rescued the injured and first took them to Upazila Health Complex and later to Tangail General Hospital. In the meantime, Abdul Hamid, the elder brother of Abdur Razzak, was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital due to his deteriorating condition. Abdul Hamid died on Saturday evening after being taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Bhuapur police station officer in-charge (OC) Muhammad Faridul Islam said that four accused were arrested after Shahina Begum filed a case as a plaintiff. Those arrested were sent to jail on Sunday afternoon by the court. The raids on the other accused are continuing.
