Distribution of cash among voters : UP chairman arrested in Belkuchi

District Detective (DB) Police arrested Bhangabari UP Chairman Zahurul Islam along with Tk 94,000 in cash from a polling station in Belkuchi.
He was arrested from Tamai Paschimpara Government Primary School Center in Bhangabari Union of Belkuchi Upazila at around 12:30 PM on Wednesday.

He said that this UP chairman was questioning the election by distributing cash among the voters at the polling station. At that time, he was arrested with money in hand.94 thousand rupees have been seized from him.The matter has been reported to the Executive Magistrate. Next steps will be taken when they arrive.
Assistant Superintendent of Police of Kamarkhand Circle in charge of that area. Adnan Mostafiz said that the chairman was trying to buy votes in the polling station area. He was arrested red-handed.It was not initially known which candidate he was trying to buy votes for. Legal action in this regard is under process.
Incidentally, the first phase of upazila parishad elections are going on in 3 upazilas including Belkuchi in Sirajganj like the rest of the country.
