In the village of Gobindaganj Upazila of Gaibandha, the cow viral disease 'lumpy skin disease' has spread widely. Already about hundred cows have been reported to be infected with this disease including death of 10/12 cows. As there is no treatment for it at the government level, the farmers and farmers are disoriented.

It is known that a disease called 'lumpy skin disease' caused by cow virus has spread in different villages in 17 unions and 1 municipality of Gobindaganj upazila since last three weeks. More than 100 cows have been affected by this disease in different villages of the upazila and 10/12 cows including 1 cow in Baluvara village, 1 cow in Magura Keshabpur village, 1 calf in Fulbari village, 1 cow in Madan Tire village, 1 cow in Tarafmanu village have been reported dead.

Meanwhile, farmer Rezaul of Pargoira village who came to the Upazila Animal Resources Office to treat the cows, Mokhlejar of Fulbari village said that their 3 cows' calves have been infected with the disease. The calf is not eating anything due to high fever. I saw the doctor. injected. I still don't know if the cow will survive.

The affected farmers said that the cows affected by this disease caused by the virus first develop fever and reluctance to eat. Round lumps or blisters appear in different parts of the body, water accumulates in the swelling of the legs and parts of the body, at some point the lumps or blisters burst and cause wounds and rot. Farmers are treating diseased cows locally, but due to lack of proper treatment, the number of deaths of infected cows is increasing.

Gobindaganj upazila livestock worker Dr. Md. Belal Hossain said, like the rest of the country, there has been an outbreak of lamprey in Gobindganj.

A few cows also died. The disease spreads rapidly through blood-sucking ticks, mites, mosquitoes and flies. Therefore, in this regard, providing cow vaccine, providing treatment for cows through medical camps in the affected areas, providing necessary advice and awareness about the disease, village-to-village meetings and pamphlets are being distributed.
