Coast Guard deployed in Chandpur for upazila elections

Coast Guard has been deployed to maintain law and order in the coastal district Chandpur in the upcoming 6th Upazila Parishad elections.

On Tuesday noon, Coast Guard Headquarters Media Officer Lt. Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi confirmed the matter.

He said, Bangladesh Coast Guard along with other law and order forces are performing their duties as mobile and striking force from last 06 May 2024 with the aim of organizing the upcoming Upazila Parishad General Elections on Wednesday in a free, fair, peaceful and impartial manner.

According to the instructions of the Election Commission, Bangladesh Coast Guard is engaged in the responsibility of Matlab Uttar Upazila of Chandpur-2 Constituency. Bangladesh Coast Guard platoons and 02 ships and 03 high-speed patrol boats are conducting round-the-clock patrolling in the centers along Meghna River in Matlab Upazila.

He also said that this activity of Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue till the pre-election, election period and post-election period in order to maintain law and order and support the civil administration.
