Chinese Ambassador calls on State Minister for Water Resources

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed Farooque MP.
The meeting was held at the office of the Minister of State for Water Resources at 11 am on Thursday with a delegation of three youths led by the ambassador. Water Resources Secretary Nazmul Ahsan was present on the occasion.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on various issues of bilateral interest, especially the development of smart infrastructure sector including water resource sector. He discussed the ongoing development of Bangladesh, the economic development of the two countries and the expansion of business and trade.
The Chinese ambassador said that the Ministry of Water Resources of China and the Ministry of Water Resources of Bangladesh signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of water resources in 2005. Since the signing of the MoU, both countries have undertaken several practical collaborations in flood control and disaster reduction and capacity building.
Referring to the existing excellent relations between the two friendly countries Bangladesh and China, the Minister of State for Water Resources said that China is an important development partner of Bangladesh.
He appreciated China's role in various infrastructure development of Bangladesh including water resource sector. He also requested to continue these cooperation in the future. Taking advantage of the government's investment-friendly policies, China will come forward with more investments in various sectors of the country.
Chinese Ambassador Yan said that China's development partnership with Bangladesh is getting stronger day by day. This development cooperation will continue in the future.
Working to advance China-Bangladesh relations. The ambassador mentioned the plan of China's Ministry of Water Resources to send a DG-level delegation to Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time in early March 2024 in order to strengthen cooperation between China and Bangladesh in the field of water resources.
