Bukhara's enterprises urged to import Bangladeshi products

Bangladesh's Ambassador to Uzbekistan Dr Mohammad Monirul Islam today urged business leaders in Uzbekistan's Bukhara region to import world-class Bangladeshi ready-made garments, jute and jute products, and pharmaceuticals.
The call was made during a meeting between the Bangladesh envoy and Bukhara Region Governor Zaripov Batyr Kamilovich at the Governor's office, according to a press release from the Bangladesh mission in Uzbekistan.
In the meeting, Ambassador Islam underscored the historic, cultural, and eligious ties between Bangladesh and Uzbekistan, highlighting the potential to further deepen these connections.
He emphasized that Bukhara, a prominent Silk Road hub, could significantly contribute to strengthening bilateral trade, cultural exchange, and tourism.
The envoy pointed out that Bukhara's revered sites, such as the birthplace of Imam Bukhari and the shrine of Bahauddin Naqshbandi are of great interest to Bangladeshi tourists.
Likewise, he said, destinations in Bangladesh like Cox's Bazar, the Sundarbans, and the shrine of Hazrat Shah Jalal (R.) could, attract tourists from Uzbekistan.
Ambassador Islam also proposed establishing a "sister city" relationship between Bukhara and a similar city in Bangladesh to bolster friendship and people-to-people ties.
Governor Zaripov expressed his commitment to enhancing business, cultural, and tourism ties with Bangladesh.
He suggested a future visit by a Bangladeshi business delegation to Bukhara and voiced his interest in establishing a sister city collaboration.
The Governor also showed interest in visiting Bangladesh at a suitable time. Bangladesh Ambassador also held separate meetings with business leaders from Bukhara's textile, carpet, and pharmaceutical sectors, exchanging views on strategies to enhance trade and investment opportunities between Bangladesh and Uzbekistan.
