Humayun Kabir Surya, Kurigram
Under the agricultural incentive program in Kurigram, Boro seedlings were planted in 50 acres of land through rice transplanters.
On Tuesday (January 21) afternoon, Deputy Commissioner Nusrat Sultana inaugurated the program at the field of Paschim Kalyan village in Belgachha union of Kurigram Sadar upazila.
The program was presided over by Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Saeeda Parveen and was addressed by Deputy Director of Agricultural Extension Department Abdullah Al Mamun, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Nahida Afrin, among others.
At the program, Deputy Commissioner Nusras Sultana said that if we want to keep pace with the advanced agricultural system, we have to expand the modernization and mechanical system of agriculture. Transplanters are a method that allows sowing seeds, lifting seedlings and harvesting rice simultaneously on more land in a short time with fewer workers. The government has provided half-price subsidy for the use of these machines, so everyone will benefit from agricultural work together in a synchronized manner. This will bring about a massive positive change in agriculture. The general public, including our farmers, will benefit from it. The Agriculture Department said that 64 farmers in this area are planting Bridhan-91 on 50 percent of the land with an incentive of about 35 lakh taka. They were able to lift and plant the seedlings in 25 days using the tray method. We hope that they will be able to harvest the crop in the next 60 days.
