
BNP leader murdered by younger brother in Jashore, 3 arrested

Ward BNP president Abdul Mannan (55) was brutally murdered by his younger brother and his family in Monirampur upazila of Jashore over a family land dispute. He died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital on Sunday (July 13) night after sustaining serious injuries on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased Abdul Mannan was the son of Ezhar Morol of Dumurkhali village in Hariharnagar union and was the ward BNP president.
Local and family sources said that he had been in a dispute with his younger brother Abdul Hannan over land for a long time. Last Saturday afternoon, Hannan's son Rahmatullah hacked Abdul Mannan and his wife Fuli Begum with a sharp knife, seriously injuring them.
Gazi Abdus Sattar, vice-president of Monirampur Thana BNP and former chairman of Hariharnagar UP, said that Mannan Bhai always wanted to maintain peace in the family and tried to resolve the matter through compromise. But the uncooperative behavior of his younger brother Hannan and his family made the situation more complicated.
OC of Monirampur Police Station Bablur Rahman Khan said, a murder case has been filed in the police station in this incident. The accused Abdul Hannan, Reshma Khatun and Rahmatullah have already been arrested. Currently, the investigation and legal process are underway.
