All remaining HSC, equivalent exams cancelled

The Ministry of Education has officially cancelled all remaining Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations, following a surge of student protests.
The decision was made after students stormed the Secretariat around 2 PM on Tuesday, demanding the cancellation of the exams.
Prof. Tapan Kumar Sarker, head of the Inter-Education Board Coordinating Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, confirmed the news to The Daily Observer over the phone. He mentioned that further details on how the exam results will be published will be announced within the next one or two days.
The HSC and equivalent exams, which began on June 30 across the country, faced multiple delays due to ongoing political and social unrest. Initially, exams scheduled for July 18 were postponed in light of the quota reform movement. Subsequent exams were postponed three more times as the situation escalated.
A revised schedule was eventually released, with exams set to resume on August 11 and written tests expected to conclude by September 8. However, the mass student movement and the resignation of Sheikh Hasina-led government have created a situation where conducting the examinations has become impossible.
Educational authorities are now focused on determining an alternative method for finalizing and publishing the students' results.
