The 14th Syndicate meeting of Bangladesh University was held today, Tuesday  in the university’s conference room. 

The meeting was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam.

During the meeting, the minutes of the 13th Syndicate meeting were presented and approved. Additionally, several important matters were discussed and decisions taken, including the approval of decisions adopted in the previous Academic Council meeting, the revised policy on faculty recruitment and promotion, and the university’s procurement policy.

Alongside initiatives for improving the quality of education at the university, the meeting emphasized the importance of aligning policy development with Bangladesh’s higher education framework. The tentative timeframe for organizing the university’s third convocation was also set—deciding to hold it either in the last week of October or mid-November.

Present at the meeting were Additional Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education, nominated by the ministry, Begum Badrun Nahar NDC; Prof Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Sarker, nominated member from the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh; Board of Trustees members Engineer Moshiur Rahman and Dr. Sagupta Mahmud; Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics and Academic Council-nominated member Prof  Dr. Md. Tajul Islam; Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Md. Sadiq Iqbal; and Chairman of the Department of Sociology Dr. M.M. Enamul Aziz.

The meeting was attended by the Registrar of Bangladesh University, Brigadier General Md. Mahbubul Haque (Retd.), who served as Member Secretary of the Syndicate.
