The two-day long 'Pharmafest-2023' has started on Thursday in Mokarram Hossain Khandkar Vigyan Bhavan premises of Dhaka University (DU) Pharmacy Department, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Club as a joint initiative.

Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. ASM Maqsood Kamal inaugurated the fest as the chief guest.

Chairman of the Pharmacy Department Professor Dr. In the opening ceremony of the fest under the chairmanship of Firoz Ahmed, the vice-chancellor of Chittagong Medical University Dr. Md. Ismail Khan and the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Professor Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar spoke as special guest.

The Chairman of Radiant Pharmaceuticals Limited spoke among others. Nasir Shahriar Zahidi, Chief Operating Officer of Beximco Pharmaceutical Limited Rabbur Reza and President of Dhaka University Pharmacy Club Sara Sultana.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. ASM Maqsood Kamal said that such joint cooperative activities will contribute significantly to the advancement of the country's pharmaceutical industry.

Emphasizing on research and innovation to make higher education meaningful, he said, in this regard, industry-academia relationship should be strengthened and coordination between all branches of knowledge and science should be done.

He expressed hope that this fest will play an important role in highlighting the role of pharmacists in the health care of the people of the country and making students more skilled and experienced.

Notably, this fest is being held by organizing Olympiads, debate competitions, poster presentations and speeches.

Teachers, students, researchers from various universities including Dhaka University, pharmacists, representatives of drug regulatory agencies and drug manufacturing organizations are participating in it.
