‘Ekushey Padak’ winning journalist Daily Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman said that on July 16, 2024, Abu Sayeed created the situation to build a fascism-free Bangladesh with his life.
He has removed fear from the minds of Bengalis with his life. He said that students have played a leading role in all revolutions in Bangladesh, starting from the language movement.
He said these as the chief guest in the discussion meeting on the closing day of the Shaheed Abu Sayeed Book Fair at the Independence Memorial Ground of Begum Rokeya University on Saturday.
Mahmudur Rahman said, from now on, Shaheed Abu Sayeed has become a symbol of revolution not only in Bangladesh but also in the whole world. As an inspiration for the revolution, the next generation will wear a shirt with a picture of Abu Sayeed, not 'Che Guevara'. He said, Abu Sayeed's sacrifice will be worthwhile only if we can build a discrimination-free Bangladesh through the collective efforts of all. Begum Rokeya University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Shawkat Ali presided over the discussion meeting.
The discussion meeting was addressed by Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, Steadfast Courier founder and CEO KM Ridwanul Bari Zion, Prof Dr. Mohammad Ilyas Pramanik, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Director Prof Dr. Mohammad Tajul Islam, among others.
The five-day book fair, initiated by the university administration, began on February 18.
