Religious Adviser inaugurates Model Mosque in Bagatipara

The newly built model mosque and Islamic cultural center in Bagatipara, Natore, was inaugurated by the Interim Government Eeligious Affairs advisor Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain on Saturday afternoon.

He unveiled the inaugural plaque of the mosque and participated in the inaugural prayer.

Bagatipara UNO Ha-Meem Tabassum Prabha presided over the program. Local administration officials, representatives of the Islamic Foundation and religious devotees were present at the time.

According to sources, this three-storey model mosque and Islamic cultural center have been built in Bagatipara in a joint initiative of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Islamic Foundation in 2023-2025 to promote Islamic research and religious activities. It has been built under the ‘Establishment of 560 Model Mosques and Islamic Cultural Centers in Each District and Upazila (Phase 2)’ project.

The model mosque can accommodate 950 worshippers at a time, including 120 women, who have separate prayer facilities. The third floor of the mosque has special facilities for ablution and prayer for the elderly and people with special needs.

In addition, the second floor has a 7,800 square foot prayer space, Islamic Research Center, Islamic Foundation office, Hajj registration center, Imam training center, Islamic library, orphanage, mortuary facilities, and Islamic book sales center. The ground floor of the mosque also has car parking and accommodation facilities for Imams, Muazzins, and Khadems.
