
Large gathering in Ctg denounces LNG deal with Argent

A large gathering in Chattogram on Saturday denounced the government’s recent LNG deal with Argent LLC. Organized by ISDE Bangladesh, CLEAN, and BWGED, the demonstration urged a transition away from fossil fuels.
Protesters highlighted how LNG-based energy dependence would increase electricity prices and financial instability. They stressed that Bangladesh should prioritize investment in solar and wind power.
S M Nazer Hossain central Vice President and Executive Director ISDE Bangladesh stated, "We must break free from fossil fuel dependency. This LNG deal will only benefit corporations while burdening our people with rising costs."
The protest ended with demands for government accountability and a stronger commitment to renewable energy policies.
Joint Secretary of Chattogram Jila Samjik Uddokta Forum Md Janae Alam, Women activist Zannatul ferdous, Sayma Hoque, Social activist Abdul Alim, Ariful Islam, Secretary CAB Youth Group Chittagong University Khairul Islam, ISDE Bangladesh Programme officer Abu Hasan Azmi and others were attended by local leaders, students, and environmental activists who championed the cause of a greener Bangladesh.
