Pitha Festival held at Amada College in Narail

A day-long Pitha Festival was held on Amada Adarsha College premises on Monday morning. The Pitha Festival was inaugurated by Narail Deputy Commissioner Sharmin Akhter Jahan as the chief guest of the event.
He also distributed the prizes of the annual sports and cultural competition.
The event was presided over by Dr. SM Abul Hasan, retired principal of Patuakhali Medical College, a native of Amada village in Narail. The welcome address was delivered by College Principal Al Faisal Khan.
The special guests were Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ITC) Ahsan Mahmud Russell, Lohagara Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mithun Moitra, Headmaster of Lohagara Government Pilot High School Hayatuzzaman Hayat and many others. The guests were presented with floral greetings and mementos.
Also present were retired school teachers Asaduzzaman Mondal, Rabiul Islam Khan, Sultan Mahmud and people from various professions.
The stalls at this year's Pitha Festival include Sonali Sakal Pithaghar, Raser Hadi, Jamai Adar Pithaghar, Shashurbari Madhurhadi Pithaghar, Rasalo, Pithapuli and Nanad-Bhabi Pithaghar. These stalls displayed beautiful designs and various types of Pithapuli of different flavors made by college students. The Pitha Festival became bustling with the gathering of thousands of people.
Among the beautifully designed pithapuli were - chitai pitha, kuli pitha, bhapa pitha, dudhkuli, dhupi pitha, haat andosa, raspakan, kharepakan, phulpakan, padmapakan, jhunjhuni pakan, bhaja pitha, takti pitha, naksha pitha, syringe pitha, joji pitha, adi pakan, apple pitha, nad-pitha, khejur pitha, dudh roti, love pitha, egg pitha, coconut chips, dudhchitai, pata pitha, phul pitha, triangle pitha, gopal pitha, tara pitha, patisapta, puli pitha, dudhpuli, jilapi pitha, dhunepata chitai, golap pitha, semai pitha and a collection of more than fifty pitha.
Since its establishment in 2004, Amada College has been celebrating various national, international and local days including annual sports, pitha festival, educational tours and other events.
Al Faisal Khan, Principal of Amada Adarsh College, said, "In the past, various types of pitha were made in rural areas. With the advent of mechanization, the organization of pitha has decreased somewhat from the present generation. We have organized the pitha festival for the 6th time to spread the original tradition of pitha especially to this generation. We will continue this organization in the future as well."
Dr. SM Abul Hasan,President of the program. said, "The organization of pithapuli is a memorial to the thousands of years of history and unity of Bengalis. Today is a completely different day to spread this tradition of present-day Bengal among everyone. It is a day of gathering of thousands of people."
