A person named Harez Ali (40) was killed in a clash between two sides over the managing committee in Sherpur.

The incident took place at Harindhara High School in Charmocharia Union of Sherpur Sadar Upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased Harez Ali is the son of the deceased Sharafat Ali Mandal of the village.

According to police sources, there had been a dispute between two parties in the area for several days over the election of the managing committee of Harindhara High School. One party filed a restraining order in the court demanding the postponement of the managing committee election. In the said case, the court ordered the postponement of the managing committee election.

But defying the court's ban, the school's headmaster Rafiqul Islam (Babul) and ad -hoc committee president Shafiqul Islam Mukta and others from that party called a meeting in the school office room about the committee at around 10 am.

At that time, when the people of the party, including the guardian member of the school, Harez Ali, protested, a fight broke out between the two parties. At one point, Harez Ali, a supporter of headmaster Rafiqul Islam and ad- hoc committee president Md. Shafiqul Islam, also attacked his party members with local weapons in a pre-planned manner.

During this time, there was a clash between the two parties, and the school ground turned into a battlefield. At least 6 people were seriously injured in the clash. On receiving information, the army and police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. At that time, police arrested five people.

Harez Ali and other injured people were taken to Sherpur District Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared Harez Alik dead.

Confirming the truth of the incident, Sherpur Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Abdul Karim said that 5 people were arrested in this regard.
