A departmental consumer rights conference of Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) leaders was held in Rajshahi DC's Conference Room on strengthening consumer rights protection activities.

Director General of National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate Mohammad Alim Akhtar Khan was present as the chief guest in the program organized by CAB on Sunday morning.

In the speech of the chief guest, Mohammad Alim Akhtar Khan said that the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection protects the rights of consumers as citizens.

This department has been created to deal individually when there is any violation in the enforcement of consumer rights in the society. Mentioning the activities of CAB as great, he further said, "We have seen that CAB has done human chain somewhere to protect the rights of consumers across the country, held a movement somewhere, and somewhere has given a memorandum to our administration. They stick to this voluntary work. They get nothing in return.

Director General of Consumer Rights Protection said, we have not been able to get out of the old culture in terms of price control. Regarding the increase in the price of onion, he said, due to import errors and mismanagement, low-quality products had to be brought through LC at high prices. Prices of other products are also on the rise. At the same time, he assured to continue all efforts to keep the price of goods bearable in the coming Ramadan.

As the head of the district consumer rights protection committee in Antihuman, district administrators of the department were given instructions to take steps to control the increase in the prices of daily necessities including meat. As a preparation for Ramadan, it has been asked to quickly coordinate with the Department of Agriculture Marketing to take effective steps to monitor the market system and control commodity prices.

Central President of CAB Jamil Choudhury presided over as special guests. Among others, representatives of various districts of Rajshahi Division of CAB, students of various educational institutions and journalists of print and electronic media were present.
