Meat vendor murdered in Rupsha

A young man named Arif, a meat vendor, was killed in Rupsha over demands for money for selling meat.
The incident took place in Sener Bazar area of Rupsha upazila at around 7 pm on Friday.
Eyewitnesses said that meat vendor Arif, son of Mohammad Ali, died at around 9:45 pm while undergoing treatment at Khulna City Medical College Hospital.
Police sources said, a young man named Arif (23), son of Mohammad Ali, a resident of Khulna Sadar area, went to Rubel's meat shop in Sener Bazar area of Rupsha upazila at around 6:30 pm.
Arif had been buying and selling meat from meat vendor Rubel for a long time. According to that source, he owed Rubel 250,000 taka. When Rubel and Arif came to ask for the money owed, during an argument and scuffle, Arif was hit on the head with a sharp machete.
Locals rescued Arif and quickly admitted him to Khulna City Medical College Hospital. Arif died at around 9:45 pm while undergoing treatment there. Rupsha Police Station OC Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Shaheen and several others were injured in the clash between the two sides following the incident.
